Pensacola Energy will host a public open house for the upcoming Peachtree Park natural gas infrastructure improvement project on Wednesday, Oct. 14, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Pensacola Public Library Meeting Room, located at 239 N. Spring St. in Pensacola.

The natural gas infrastructure improvement project will replace 5.6 miles of natural gas mains, customer service lines and meter sets within the Peachtree Park neighborhood. The aging infrastructure will be replaced with modern polyethylene components designed to enhance safety, improve reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and provide dependable natural gas service for our customers. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall 2026, with anticipated completion by mid-2027.

Residents and businesses may experience temporary construction-related impacts, including periodic lane and sidewalk closures, parking restrictions, short-term access modifications, construction noise and brief interruptions to natural gas service. Affected stakeholders will receive advance notice before work begins in their area.

“Pensacola Energy is committed to being Pensacola’s trusted natural gas service provider for the customers and communities we serve,” said Pensacola Energy Director Darryl Singleton. “This investment allows us to proactively replace aging infrastructure and strengthen our system to better serve our customers for years to come.”

The Peachtree Park Natural Gas Infrastructure Improvement Project is part of Pensacola Energy’s ongoing commitment to modernize its natural gas distribution system while providing safe, reliable energy service to the community. Peachtree Park is the first of two natural gas infrastructure improvement projects funded through a $10 million Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure and Safety Modernization (NGDISM) Grant awarded by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) to the City of Pensacola on behalf of Pensacola Energy.

This event is not sponsored or endorsed by the West Florida Public Libraries or Escambia County.
