Peachtree Park Natural Gas Infrastructure Improvement Project
Pensacola Energy is replacing 5.6 miles of natural gas mains, customer service lines and meter sets within the Peachtree Park neighborhood. The aging infrastructure will be replaced with modern polyethylene components designed to enhance safety, improve reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and provide dependable natural gas service for our customers.
Peachtree Park is the first of two natural gas infrastructure improvement projects funded through a $10 million Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure and Safety Modernization (NGDISM) Grant awarded by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) to the City of Pensacola on behalf of Pensacola Energy.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the construction schedule?
Construction in the Peachtree Park neighborhood is anticipated to begin in November 2026, with project completion expected in summer 2027.
Crews, trucks and equipment may be on site Monday through Saturday, from approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Construction activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather.
How long will construction take on my block?
Crews will replace existing natural gas mains, customer service lines and meter assemblies, progressing through the neighborhood in sections of several blocks at a time.
Residents can expect construction activity on their block and adjacent streets for approximately three to four weeks before crews advance to another area. This timeframe is an estimate and may vary based on construction conditions.
Where will construction take place?
Construction will occur primarily within public rights-of-way and utility easements along both sides of the street. Work may also extend onto individual properties where service line and meter connections are required.
Crews will establish designated work areas, with at least one travel lane maintained during construction. Temporary lane and sidewalk closures may be necessary as work progresses.
Drivers and pedestrians are reminded to use caution when traveling through construction areas and watch for workers and equipment.
Will crews need access to my property or home?
Yes. Following installation of the new natural gas mains, crews will replace individual customer service lines and meter assemblies. This work will require access to affected properties.
When customers are transferred to the new natural gas system, temporary service interruptions of approximately four hours are anticipated. A Pensacola Energy representative will need access to homes or businesses to safely restore service, including relighting pilot lights on applicable natural gas appliances, such as water heaters and stoves.
Crews will attempt to notify customers before interrupting service, which may include a courtesy knock on the day work is performed. If no one is available at the property to provide access for service restoration, a notice will be left with instructions to contact Pensacola Energy to arrange for service to be restored at no charge.
How will construction impact my driveway, lawn and landscaping?
Crews may use a combination of underground boring and excavation to install new natural gas mains and customer service lines.
While underground boring helps minimize surface disturbance, temporary excavations may be necessary within public rights-of-way, utility easements and individual properties to install and connect the new infrastructure.
Areas disturbed by construction, including roadways, sidewalks, driveways and landscaping, will be restored following installation. Pensacola Energy will make reasonable efforts to return affected areas to their previous condition.
Will there be any cost to the customer or property owner for this work?
No. The infrastructure replacement work is funded through a $10 million federal Natural Gas Distribution Infrastructure & Safety Modernization Grant. Customers and property owners will not be charged for the planned infrastructure improvements.
While the infrastructure replacement is provided at no cost to customers, any repairs required to privately owned natural gas piping or appliances remain the responsibility of the customer or property owner. If an appliance, such as a water heater, cannot be safely relit upon service restoration, the customer or property owner is responsible for obtaining professional repairs at their own expense.
How will I be notified of planned work?
Residents will receive notification at least one week before construction begins on their block. Printed notices will be distributed to affected properties, with additional updates available through email, text message alerts and social media.
