What to Do if You Smell Natural Gas
If you smell natural gas or suspect you have a natural gas leak in your home, take the following steps:
- Leave the premises immediately, taking all occupants and pets.
- Leave doors and windows open, but do not re-enter the building to do so.
- Do not try to find the leak source or turn off valves or appliances. Do not operate any electrical, battery or mechanical devices (including phones).
- Call Pensacola Energy Emergency Services at 850-474-5300 from a safe location.
- Do not re-enter the building until it has been made safe.
If you detect an odor of natural gas outside, take these steps:
- Stay away from the suspected leak area.
- Call Pensacola Energy Emergency Services at 850-474-5300 from a safe location.
Pensacola Energy emergency service personnel are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including holidays.
If your gas service has been disconnected because of safety concerns, you should call 850-474-5300 to schedule Pensacola Energy to turn on your natural gas and relight your appliances once the problem has been corrected.
